Well, at least in Ohio, the pandemic seems to be winding down anyway. In Ohio you can now have wedding receptions of up 300 guests and dancing is allowed in bars again! Wooohoo! But, there are still rules of "Social Distancing" that must be adhered to for restaurants and bars. For example, you can have a group of up to 10 people at a table, but that group of 10 still has to remain six feet apart from its neighboring table(s). Yes, you can still drink in bars and restaurants as well, but you are not aloud to walk around or "meander" as I would say with your drinks or food. In other words, if you want to dance you have to keep your drink at the bar and keep yourself six feet away from other dancers.
No, you do not have to wear a mask while you're at a bar or restaurant, but management can not force you to take it off if you choose to wear one. It's kind of tough to drink a beer and eat nachos whilst wearing a mask.
How does this impact your favorite DJ/KJ (Karaoke Jockey)? When it comes to spinning dance tunes, not much on our end. I know that I have been asked in the past few weeks during this pandemic to make an announcement to remind patrons that social distancing rules are still in effect and not to group together at tables or on the dance floor. As far as karaoke goes, I personally have been implementing wipes for the microphone, hand sanitizer, contact free song requests (verbally or through ask.the.dj.com which goes right to my karaoke program) and I have been selling foam microphone covers for 2 bucks a piece which people can keep and use forever. Singers don't seem to mind and they appreciate the extra care and safety.
According to the order, if everything goes well in Ohio, these restrictions will be lifted or amended on July 1, 2020. Let's hope for lifted! Small businesses are still struggling all over the country with these orders, rules and restrictions. It is up to US whether these orders are lifted or amended, so do your part the best you can and STAY SAFE!
